2ND REQUEST FOR DISCUSSION (RFD)/LAST CALL FOR COMMENTS
           unmoderated group rec.arts.tv.dancing

This is a formal Request for Discussion (RFD) for the creation of the
unmoderated newsgroup rec.arts.tv.dancing

NEWSGROUPS LINE:
rec.arts.tv.dancing All reality-tv celebrity dance shows.

RATIONALE:

Discussions of the "Dancing with the Stars" (aka, "Strictly Come
Dancing", its British counterpart) as well as multi-nation's showings of
"So You Think You Can Dance," along with "Randy Jackson's Dance Crew,"
have resulted in discussions of these shows growing on Usenet. With the
recently completed fall season of DWTS in the US, fans are requesting a
newsgroup dedicated to these shows in time for their individual winter
and summer seasons.

These shows are popular Usenet discussion topics found in other
newsgroups such as rec.arts.tv.x-factor and alt.tv.american-idol. They
have numerous fans and generate many discussions within these
newsgroups. As such the time has come for it to have its own newsgroup.
Further information about the "Dancing with the Stars" franchise, brand
and how it "works" may be found at
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dancing_with_the_Stars. "So You Think You
Can Dance may be found under entries of multiple countries in Wikipedia.
"America's Best Dance Crew information may be found in Wikipedia at

CHARTER:

This newsgroup is for discussion of reality television shows specific to
dancing.

It is not restricted to the discussion of any nation's specific version
of any show, in the anticipation that this will spur additional interest
and communication worldwide about a show that has re-defined reality
television. Most likely however, discussions will focus on the versions
from: the United States, Great Britain, Canada and Australia. The U.S
versions are also shown, concurrently, in many countries with its
showing in the U.S.

Posters are expected to abide by normal Usenet standards of decorum, and
to ignore articles intended to disrupt the group. The usual suspects
are prohibited (spam, binaries, direct advertising, etc.)
