This is a formal Request for Discussion (RFD) to remove moderated
newsgroup comp.sys.mac.programmer.info

NEWSGROUPS LINE:

comp.sys.mac.programmer.info Frequently requested information. (Moderated)

DISTRIBUTION:

news.announce.newgroups
news.groups.proposals
comp.sys.mac.programmer.info

PROPONENT:

Kathy I. Morgan <kmorgan@aptalaska.net>, moderator of the group

CHARTER OF COMP.SYS.MAC.PROGRAMMER.INFO:

A moderated newsgroup for posting FAQ's, digests, convention
and release announcements, "columns" by developers and industry
insiders, contact information, reviews, bulletins and any
frequently requested information relating to development for
  the Macintosh computer system.

This group will be moderated by MacTech magazine
  <csmp_info@xplain.com> with the following mandate:

  Moderator's Mandate:
  --------------------

The moderator will assure that all contributions get posted,
routing those that are not appropriate to csmp.info to the
appropriate forum, and posting a pointer to them on csmp.info.
The decision as to what is appropriate will be based on a
comp.sys.mac.programmer.info FAQ, that will contain a list of
acceptable types and unacceptable types of postings and a short
description of each. This document will be posted monthly on
csmp.info and subject to revision. Additions to the material
list can be made at the moderators discretion based on at least
four requests from separate users. If at least four
separate users object to any addition, a RFD and CFV on the
issue will be required. If any user objects to the moderators
actions, the moderator may be removed by a specific RFD and CFV
on this issue. The RFD and CFV must include the name of proposed
replacement who is willing to accept the responsibilities.

Initially the following types of posts will be considered
    acceptable:

[Ptr] : posts that give information pointing to the locations
of more detailed information. eg contact info for
Metrowerks, lists of ftp sites with source code,
            descriptions of csmp newsgroups, etc

[FAQ] : frequently asked questions with answers. eg how
to use an external editor with SC++, what are
the universal headers, how to hide the menubar, etc

[Review] : unbiased evaluations of various programming resources.
eg features in SC++, what was discusses at WWDC,
what articles were in _develop_ 19 or MacTech
            Oct '94.

[Note] : brief announcements. eg Symantec 7.0.4 update
available on Sumex, MacWorld Boston Aug 5th, New
Book by Dave Mark (Review to follow)

RATIONALE:

I took over moderation of this group in September of 2007 as a result of
an MVI after the group had been dead for some time. Traffic was always
very light and there have been no ontopic submissions since May, 2008.

November 1994.

Those who wish to comment on this request to remove this newsgroup
should subscribe to news:news.groups.proposals and participate in the
relevant threads in that newsgroup.

To this end, the followup header of this RFD has been set to

All discussion of active proposals should be posted to
