                   comp.org.eff.news will be removed

The Last Call for Comments (LCC) on 07 Feb 2007 initiated a five-day
period for final comments. Following the comment period, the Big-8
Management board has decided by consensus to remove the newsgroup
comp.org.eff.news.

This group will be removed on 20 Feb 2007.

RATIONALE: remove comp.org.eff.news

The newsgroup comp.org.eff.news has not had any approved messages
since September 1999. The group had steady traffic from its inception
in September 1997. There were two isolated approvals in July 1998 and
September 1999.

Announcements and discussion about the EFF (Electronic Frontier
Foundation) and its activities may occur in the unmoderated group
comp.org.eff.talk. In addition, the EFF maintains a web site
http://www.eff.org/.

HISTORY:

The newsgroups comp.org.eff.news (moderated) and comp.org.eff.talk
(unmoderated) were created as part of the Inet hierarchy in September
1990. In July 1992, they were moved into the regular Big 7
distribution. The moderated group was active for roughly 7 years, and
has been mostly inactive for the past 9 years.
