                      REQUEST FOR DISCUSSION (RFD)
                     remove comp.theory.dynamic-sys
                     remove comp.theory.self-org-sys

This is a formal Request For Discussion (RFD) to remove the newsgroups
comp.theory.dynamic-sys and comp.theory.self-org-sys.

PROCEDURE:

The B8MB plans to begin voting on this proposal after five days. Please
offer any final discussion or comments before the end of this waiting
period. Voting may take up to one week (7 days); a result will be posted
following the end of the voting period.

All discussion of this proposal should be posted to news.groups.

The full (draft) group removal procedure is documented here:

  http://www.big-8.org/dokuwiki/doku.php?id=policies:rmgroup

SUMMARY OF DISCUSSION:

No comments were received. comp.theory.self-org-sys received a set of
5 announcements that were cross-posted to 4 other groups. The only
follow-up was cross-posted to the same groups plus misc.misc.

RATIONALE: remove comp.theory-reorg

comp.theory.dynamic-sys and comp.theory.self-org-sys have had one
discussion thread "*Real* Distributed Computing" cross-posted between
the two groups and several other groups including comp.distributed,
comp.object, comp.theory.cell-automata, and comp.theory. It is improbable
that participation was coming from either of the two groups.

comp.theory.self-org-sys had a discussion thread "I need an email calendar
for non-profit org" cross-posted to alt.management, alt.office.management,
soc.org.nonprofit. It is not clear whether the originator wanted
the calendar software to help him self-organize, or he thought a
self-organization was similar to a non-profit-organization.

Both groups also get quite a bit of conference and similar announcements,
but no discussion of their own.

Since the one discussion thread was also cross-posted to comp.theory,
there is no reason for keeping the separate groups.

This RFD is part of a proposal to remove 31 low-traffic former-INET
groups. Please see article <1152814343.19576@isc.org>, available here:

    http://news.killfile.org/?group=news.announce.newgroups&number=1363

Note: the proposal to remove two of the 31 groups, comp.os.rsts and
comp.std.announce, has been withdrawn.

HISTORY:

comp.theory.dynamic-sys and comp.theory.self-org-sys have existed as INET

distribution in October 2000.
