From: Jim Riley <firstname.lastname@example.org> Subject: 2nd RFD: remove comp.sources.hp48 (LAST CALL FOR COMMENTS) Newsgroups: news.announce.newgroups, news.groups, comp.sources.hp48, comp.sys.hp48 Followup-To: news.groups Date: Mon, 26 Jun 2006 11:51:06 -0700 REQUEST FOR DISCUSSION (RFD) remove comp.sources.hp48 This is a formal Request For Discussion (RFD) to remove the moderated newsgroup comp.sources.hp48. PROCEDURE: The B8MB plans to begin voting on this proposal after five days. Please offer any final discussion or comments before the end of this waiting period. Voting may take up to one week (7 days); a result will be posted following the end of the voting period. All discussion of this proposal should be posted to news.groups. The full (draft) group removal procedure is documented here: http://www.big-8.org/dokuwiki/doku.php?id=policies:rmgroup SUMMARY OF DISCUSSION: There were no objections to the removal of comp.sources.hp48 RATIONALE: Remove comp.sources.hp48 The last approved message was in November 1993. There are other more suitable means of distributing program sources, so comp.sources.hp48 is not a suitable candidate for conversion to an unmoderated newsgroup. HISTORY: The newsgroup comp.sources.hp48 was created in July 1991, with the first approved message in July 1991. CHARTER: From the CFV: This moderated newsgroup will contain all program postings and anything that needs to be archived. All programs can and should be posted here. It will not matter if they are rpl source, assembly source, uuencoded binaries, asc encoded binaries, or any other format that might come up in the foreseeable future. It would be good to post large documents like the internals list here for archiving and to keep the bytes down in the discussion group. This is not a requirement, only a suggestion. Each posting will contain rkive(1) headers so that rkive(1) can be used to automatically archive each posting. Hopefully the sites that archive comp.sources.* will also archive the HP48 source. There will be at least one archive site, seq.uncwil.edu. Each posting will also contain a version number so that it will be much easier to keep track of newer versions and to purge old versions. Since most HP28 programs run on the HP48, they are welcome. The postings will be identified by HP28 in the subject line of each message. DISTRIBUTION: This RFD has been posted to the following newsgroups: news.announce.newgroups news.groups comp.sources.hp48 comp.sys.hp48 PROPONENT: Jim Riley <email@example.com> CHANGE HISTORY: 2006-06-26 2nd RFD (Last Call for Comments) 2006-06-19 Slightly reformatted and posted to NAN 2006-06-16 Original RFD.
