    • Moderator volunteer for soc.history.war.world-war-ii soc.history.war.world-war-ii on Google Groups
      • TM still to post the announcement of the new moderator.
    • Removal of rec.radio.broadcasting rec.radio.broadcasting on Google Groups
      • After the call for votes was issued, the Board received an e-mail from someone volunteering to take over as moderator for the group. JS discussed this with Paul Schleck, and as a result of this discussion TM wrote to the volunteer for further information on their background and plans.
      • RL to continue this discussion with the volunteer, in particular to ask whether they would be willing and able to assume technical and/or financial responsibility for the group's existing moderation software setup, and to get further details on their plans to revitalize the group.
      • TM to post a follow-up to the LCC indicating that the matter is on hold pending further discussion with the volunteer.
    • Moderation status of news.admin.technical news.admin.technical on Google Groups
      • TM still to contact the last known moderator to confirm the current situation with the group.

      • No further correspondence received from the inquirer.
    • Proposal to revitalize comp.os.plan9 comp.os.plan9 on Google Groups
      • No further correspondence received from the inquirer, who had suggested converting the group to an unmoderated one.
      • The meeting reviewed the pros and cons of changing the moderation status of a group and considered whether they still applied to today's smaller Usenet. It was observed that there was at least one past instance of a group being successfully converted from unmoderated to moderated (namely, comp.ai comp.ai on Google Groups.
      • RL to open a discussion on news.admin.moderation news.admin.moderation on Google Groups and news.groups.proposals news.groups.proposals on Google Groups to ask whether anyone was aware of a group being converted from moderated to unmoderated in the past, and what the current feeling is (particularly among news server administrators) on whether such an action would be successful nowadays.
  • Infrastructure
    • Mail server
      • The webmail and admin front-ends are still down and sending daily nag e-mails about the upgrade and backup status; RL to continue to work on this when time permits.
      • In the meantime, RL to (manually) change the target for Tristan's big-8.org forwarder to his new address.
  • Misc
    • TM still to respond to Salahuddin's correspondence concerning his moderation tool.
    • Last week's meeting was cancelled as RL was travelling.
    • Next week's meeting is rescheduled to Thursday, 15 February at 11:00 CST / 17:00 GMT due to a conflicting appointment for TM.
