From Usenet Big-8 Management Board

Present: TM, RL

  • Administration
    • comp.os.linux.announce comp.os.linux.announce on Google Groups
      • TM reports that Salahuddin solved the approval problem with some help from Eternal September. (The problems related to the server port and wrapping long header lines.) TM has posted a Moderator Found announcement and is waiting for Salahuddin to approve it. Once he does so, TM will mirror the announcement on the Board's website.
    • Removal of rec.radio.broadcasting rec.radio.broadcasting on Google Groups
      • To recap, the moderators had shut down the moderation system in November 2021. At that time, the Board had proposed starting the group removal process but Paul Schleck argued for a two-year cooling-off period. The Board had therefore agreed to revisit the matter in one year (i.e., now.). At the current meeting the Board noted no further developments in the last year, and so following Paul's original suggestion, agreed to reconsider the removal process by November 2022.
  • (Web)STUMP
    • RL raised the idea of writing a Thunderbird add-on with (Web)STUMP's functionality, which would obviate the need for a client/server–based tool. TM seemed to recall that Thunderbird add-ons are sandboxed and so any functionality provided by external tools (PGPMoose, etc.) might need to be reimplemented in the add-on itself. It was agreed that RL would do a preliminary feasibility study of the idea.
    • TM raised the idea of applying for funding for development of (Web)STUMP (or a successor tool) from the Open Technology Fund's Interneet Freedom Fund. It was agreed that the Board would look into the application requirements and process.
