Rayner Lucas and Tristan Miller of the Big-8 Management Board served as co-convenors of a panel, "Beyond the Web: Usenet as an archive of digital discourse", at the Born-Digital Collections, Archives and Memory Conference. The panel featured the following three paper presentations:

  • "Usenet unearthed: Rediscovering a treasure trove of born-online material" by Rayner Lucas and Tristan Miller
  • "Challenges and prospective solutions for scholarly inquiry with Usenet archives" by Tristan Miller and Katie Szilagyi
  • "Studying the 'tired old flame queens': Flame wars within Usenet archives" by Avery Dame-Griff

Born-Digital Collections, Archives and Memory is an interdisciplinary international conference on how born-digital material transforms research in the humanities. It was hosted by the Digital Humanities Research Hub of University College London's School of Advanced Study from 2 to 4 April, 2025.
