NEWSGROUPS LINE: comp.mobile.android Discussing Android devices / OS. RATIONALE: This newsgroup is meant to form a new group for the discussion and mutual support of the Android OS devices. Mainly discussion is planned to be about Android OS - based mobile phones, but also tablets and everything else Android - based. Newsgroup is not planned only as a place for end - users, but for everyone using / programming for: Android smartphones / devices / mobile computers. Currently, discussion of Android is mainly nonexistent on Usenet. But popular in Google Groups - many groups could be found about Android, both OS and devices. Also quite popular on the web - many forums exist. Also discussion in comp.mobile.ipad has shown that there are persons waiting for an Android newsgroup to be created, better as Big-8 group. (One person claimed that he "doesn't touches alt.*".) The following people have expressed support for the group in posts to news.groups.proposals. Andy Burns <68udnXT7Vt2oGi7NnZ2dnUVZ8iadnZ2d@brightview.co.uk> Bob Rudd <firstname.lastname@example.org> Phillip Helbig <email@example.com> David Taylor <firstname.lastname@example.org> Steve Bonine <ak36odFb5igU1@mid.individual.net> D Finnigan <email@example.com> Steve Hayes <firstname.lastname@example.org> Doug Freyburger <email@example.com> Kathy Morgan <1kvraz6.7n5u238ztu8bNfirstname.lastname@example.org> David E. Posters are expected to abide by normal Usenet standards of decorum, and to ignore any articles intended to disrupt the newsgroup. Spam is PROHIBITED. Advertising is NOT allowed. Newsgroup is text only. (That means: no binaries.) PROCEDURE: Please refer to the newsgroup creation policies listed here: http://www.big-8.org/wiki/How_to_Create_a_New_Big-8_Newsgroup Those who wish to influence the development of this RFD and its final resolution should subscribe to news.groups.proposals and participate in the relevant threads in that newsgroup. This is both a courtesy to groups in which discussion of creating a new group is off-topic as well as the best method of making sure that one's comments or criticisms are heard. All discussion of active proposals should be posted to news.groups.proposals. To this end, the followup header of this RFD has been set to news.groups.proposals. The final comment period lasts for five (5) days from the time that this RFD is posted.
