    • RL has resumed liaising with Terje regarding setting up a moderation system.
  • New signing key for news.groups.proposals
    • RL generated a new key, added UIDs for ngp-approval-key@big-8.org and ngp-approval-key@ngp.big-8.org, signed new key with the old key, and published the new key on a key server. Still to do: update our STUMP instance to sign posts with both keys (for the next six months at least), add the new key to the news.groups.proposals wiki page, and announce the changeover on news.groups.proposals . We can stop signing with the old key after six months.
  • rec.humor.funny : No further communication with Brad Templeton.
  • comp.binaries.cbm : RL pinged the prospective moderator on 2025-06-20.
  • rec.arts.anime.creative : RL pinged the prospective moderator on 2025-06-20.
  • soc.sexuality.general (non-functioning moderated group): TM is still in correspondence with two of the former moderators.
  • soc.culture.jewish.moderated (non-functioning moderated group): No further communication from the former moderator and their nominee. Agreed that TM would ping them again, and defer the LCC until mid-July.
  • comp.sys.wearables : On 2025-06-20 RL pinged Greg Pfeil for an update on the moderation infrastructure. In any case, agreed to wait several more months for further action.
  • comp.protocols.dns.bind : On 2025-05-02 MM pinged Dan Mahoney for an update on the mail-to-news gateway. No response yet. In any case, agreed to wait several more months for further action.
  • Unused comp.unix.* groups: MM to draft an RFD for comp.unix.bsd.386bsd.misc , comp.unix.bsd.bsdi.misc , comp.unix.sys5.misc , comp.unix.sys5.r4 , and comp.unix.user-friendly .
• Infrastructure
  • Decommissioning of the mail.big-8.org domain and of Mail-in-a-Box, Nextcloud, etc.
    • JE responded that he's OK with our plans to decommission Nextcloud. TM to back up or migrate any useful files.
    • MM reported that Mail-in-a-Box apparently just uses a script to install and configure the relevant Ubuntu packages; if we remove this script then the packages should remain. TM noted that Mail-in-a-Box seems to handle our TLS certificate renewal and that we might need to replace this with Certbot. MM to continue to investigate the decommissioning procedure.
• Software/funding
  • TM: No update yet on GPG signing best practices on Savannah
  • Thunderbird 128 contact deferred given Julien's comments on INN.
  • TM still to respond to Julien.
  • OTF IFF/NGI0/Sovereign Tech Fund: no further updates
  • JE approved one of RL's OpenCollective expense claims; RL to remind him about the other one. JE and RL are in the process of signing and submitting a form to transfer the web hosting account from JE to RL.
