news.announce.newgroups (n.a.n) is a moderated announcement group. It was created in August, 1989, as a special venue for circulation of new newsgroup proposals, calls for votes, and results of votes in the Big Seven newsgroup hierarchies.

In 1995 the Big Seven became the Big Eight.

Since 2006 the Big Eight are managed by a board, and calls for votes were replaced by Last Call for Comments.
