                    3rd REQUEST FOR DISCUSSION (RFD)
moderated group soc.men.moderated (remove) LAST CALL FOR COMMENTS

This is a formal Request for Discussion (RFD) to remove the moderated
newsgroup soc.men.moderated.

PROCEDURE:

The B8MB plans to begin voting on this proposal after five days. Please
offer any final discussion or comments before the end of this waiting
period. Voting may take up to one week (7 days); a result will be
posted following the end of the voting period.

All discussion of this proposal should be posted to
news.groups.proposals.

For more information on the newsgroup removal process, please see
http://www.big-8.org/articles/p/r/o/Procedure_to_remove_newsgroups.html

NEWSGROUPS LINE:
soc.men.moderated Men's interests, roles, rights, relationships,
etc. (Moderated)

RATIONALE:
Probe posts to this group do not result in bounces.

However, the last article approved by the moderators (i.e., not a
forgery) appeared in early 2008. Recent attempts to contact some of the
moderators at their last known personal e-mail addresses resulted in
replies from Graham Drabble and Mark Borgerson confirming that the
newsgroup and the moderation team are inactive.

DISCUSSION SO FAR:

Turin Turambar posted to news.groups.proposals on March 19th, 2014 in
article <lgb4pl$14r$1@dont-email.me> expressing interesting in retention
of the newsgroup and in assuming the role of moderator. After
consideration of the questions and suggestions posted by the proponent
the same day in followup article <532a35e2$0$22482$740e82cd@novia.net>,
Turin Turambar withdrew his interest in becoming moderator on March 20,
2014 in followup article <lgdsmf$rj9$1@dont-email.me>.

No one has followed up to rebut the basic finding of fact of the
Moderator Vacancy Investigation that the soc.men.moderated newsgroup has
been dead for several years and is unlikely to be resurrected by the
original moderation team. No other volunteers have stepped forward to
take over moderation of the soc.men.moderated newsgroup.
