This is a formal Request for Discussion (RFD) to remove moderated
newsgroup comp.unix.bsd.openbsd.announce.

RATIONALE:

In December 2009 Florian Rehnisch took over moderation of CUBOA in the
course of an MVI process. On 2011-08-17 Florian announced that he would
like to step down. Nobody seems interested in the group.

CHARTER OF COMP.UNIX.BSD.OPENBSD.ANNOUNCE

comp.unix.bsd.openbsd.announce is a moderated group for general
announcements pertaining to the OpenBSD operating system. This
includes but is not limited to new releases of OpenBSD, impending
changes that affect OpenBSD users, and new products available for
OpenBSD.

Moderation policies:

Articles should be accepted that pertain to the availability of new
products for the OpenBSD operating system (including new versions
of OpenBSD itself). Articles regarding commercial products should
be accepted if and only if the products in question are usable
with OpenBSD and not general in nature.

HISTORY OF THE GROUP:

comp.unix.bsd.openbsd.announce is a moderated newsgroup which passed its vote
for creation by 244:32 as reported in news.announce.newgroups on 22 Feb 1997.

PROCEDURE:

Those who wish to comment on this request to remove this newsgroup should
subscribe to news.groups.proposals and participate in the relevant threads
in that newsgroup.

To this end, the followup header of this RFD has been set to

In the course of the removal process two formal announcements are posted
(1st RFD and LCC). At the end of the process the B8MB will decide on the
issue.
