As of this writing, the results are<br /> as follows:<br /> <br /> Support, Will Read 10<br /> Support 11<br /> Support, Will Not Read 0<br /> Opposed 6<br /> <br /> Accordingly, the proposal for the creation of rec.arts.sf.tv.jericho has<br /> received more support than opposition.<br /> <br /> A few issues were raised and discussed following the first RFD:<br /> <br /> - Jericho is a fairly new television series, with one full season aired<br /> and seven new episodes being filmed.<br /> <br /> The proponent would like to add that, even though the series is young, the<br /> viewers has already collaborated with CBS in order to give the green light<br /> to film new episodes. The Jericho fan base is very passionate and will<br /> certainly continue to encourage people to watch the current and new<br /> episodes. Having another venue can only help for this purpose.<br /> <br /> - There are only a few television shows that have rec.* groups, and<br /> Jericho discussion would fit into either rec.arts.tv or rec.arts.sf.tv.<br /> <br /> The proponent acknowledges these precedents, but feels that discussion<br /> would best fit into its own group. Experience with alt.tv.* shows that<br /> groups such as this can (and have) succeed.<br /> <br /> - There is a question as to whether a Jericho newsgroup would have global<br /> interest, as opposed to US-only.<br /> <br /> Since Jericho was played in many countries I do not think finding supporters<br /> outside the USA will be a problem.<br /> <br /> <br /> RATIONALE: rec.arts.sf.tv.jericho<br /> <br /> The television show &quot;Jericho&quot; was cancelled by CBS in May 2007. After a very<br /> big grassroots effort to get the show back by very dedicated fans CBS finally<br /> decided to greenlight a second season (seven episodes) with the possibility<br /> of more. The fans have been very passionate about the show; thus the fanbase<br /> is very dedicated.<br /> <br /> If created, this newsgroup would allow current and future fans an official<br /> Usenet newsgroup to discuss the television show &quot;Jericho&quot;. CBS has asked<br /> the dedicated fans to spread the word about the show and I believe this<br /> newsgroup would be the perfect place to do that.<br /> <br /> <br /> CHARTER:<br /> <br /> rec.arts.sf.tv.jericho is an unmoderated group for the discussion<br /> of the television show &quot;Jericho&quot;.
