However, since that time, there have been articles<br /> cross-posted to other moderated newsgroups, which were approved by the<br /> moderators of those other newsgroups. In addition, there have been<br /> occasional self-approved articles. In recent years, over 95% of the<br /> articles in the group have been approved by the moderator of<br /> comp.parallel.<br /> <br /> Because of the apparent continued interest in posting to the<br /> newsgroup, it may be worthwhile to assign a new moderator to the<br /> newsgroup. It should be noted that the previous moderator not only<br /> approved articles, but maintained a searchable archive of postings on<br /> a web page. This may be particularly useful for this group, given<br /> that conference and CFP announcements are made several months before<br /> the event or submission deadline will occur.<br /> <br /> <br /> HISTORY: <br /> <br /> The newsgroup mod.conferences was created in June 1986. In April 1987<br /> it was renamed to news.announce.conferences as part of the Great<br /> Renaming. Traffic built steadily to around 150 articles per month,<br /> until an interruption occured in October 1996. After a short renewal<br /> in April 1997, there have apparently been no approvals since May 1997.<br /> <br /> Since 1997 there have been some cross-posted articles approved by<br /> moderators of other newsgroups, as well as some self approvals.
